Story
The Retail, Digital & Logistics People Change and Deployment Team alongside Retail People Partnering Transformation Team are taking on a very special challenge for Move for Meals in aid of Comic Relief on 6th August 2026.
Starting at our Waterloo Station Sainsbury’s Local, we'll be walking across central London, visiting 10 Sainsbury’s stores and multiple heritage sites that tell the story of where the business began. From Short Street, Stamford Street and Drury Lane, where the foundations of Sainsbury’s history were laid, to stores representing the business today, we'll be following the journey of Sainsbury’s through the generations before finishing at our new headquarters at 33 Charterhouse.
This challenge is about more than the miles we walk. It's about celebrating our heritage, recognising how far we've come, and connecting the past with the future. As we retrace the footsteps of our founders and visit locations that have shaped Sainsbury’s story, we're also raising money for a cause that matters deeply.
Every donation will help support Comic Relief's mission to tackle food insecurity, helping children and families access the food and support they need. Through Move for Meals, every step we take is a reminder that good food can change lives and that together we can make a real difference.
We're proud to be walking from the roots of our business to its future home, honouring over 150 years of history while helping create a brighter future for others.
Please support our challenge if you can. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help turn our steps into meals for people who need them most. 🧡
Thank you for all your support - Alex H, Jordan, Lauren, Alex J, Simon, Tanya, Clare, Beth, Joan, Anna, Helen, Lucy and Janette
