Story
On 13th September, I’ll be taking on my first full-distance Ironman.
Ironman Wales is a one-day 140-mile endurance triathlon made up of three disciplines:
🏊 2.4 mile (3.8km) sea swim in Tenby
🚴 112 mile (180km) cycle through the Pembrokeshire countryside
🏃 26.2 mile (42.2km) marathon run
It’s widely regarded as one of the toughest one-day races out there, starting with an open water sea swim, followed by a notoriously hilly bike course and finishing with a marathon through the steep, historic streets of Tenby.
I’m taking on this challenge to raise money for Comic Relief, with a target of £1,400 (to signify 140 miles) - enough to provide access to a holiday club for 70 children.
Every donation will go even further, as Sainsbury’s will match every pound raised - doubling the impact of all contributions.
At Sainsbury’s, we have a clear mission: good food for all of us. We believe every child should grow up nourished, strong and full of possibility. Yet today in the UK, 1 in 7 families are going hungry and over 2 million children don’t have enough food to grow, learn and thrive. Together with Comic Relief, we’re working towards a future where every family has access to good food, so no child goes hungry.
This cause is also personal to me. For over a decade, I’ve volunteered weekly at youth clubs and children’s programmes in underprivileged areas of Bolton, where I’ve seen first-hand the difference the right support can make to young people’s lives.
Anything you can donate will be much appreciated and make a real difference.
